Coaching for Interview Questions.

A technical interview is conducted by a Careerist specialist as part of an assessment for technical jobs after an initial telephone interview.

The main purpose of this specialized interview is to assess your level of proficiency in the required skillsets to ensure your suitability for the position.

Typically, the interview begins with some general questions about your skills and background. While the answers to these questions may already be on your resume, personal discussion can open up a new perspective.

Technical Skills.

There are generally two widely used approaches to assessing a candidate’s technical skills, and you should be mentally prepared for both options.

  1. Independent tasks you have completed remotely
  2. Proctored testing. (A proctored test is a test that is supervised by someone, referred to as a proctor, who verifies the identity of the test taker and maintains academic integrity. Proctored tests may be administered in-person or remotely).

Provoking Questions and Hypothetical Situations.

Another way to gather relevant skill information during an interview is to ask the student about hypothetical situations and hear how they handle them.

This stage provides an excellent opportunity for you to share your past work experience, motivation, and any other relevant experiences that may contribute to success in the new position.

Portfolio or work samples.

Here you will need to prepare and demonstrate everything you can share as examples of your work.

This is extremely important for designers (examples include Behance, Dribbble or personal websites) and developers (GitHub, open source projects, etc.).

Ask Questions

You have probably heard this a thousand times, but, it still holds true that recruiters see this is a good sign of genuine interest in the vacancy.

While most schools and boot camps focus on theoretical education, Careerist’s approach aims to give the candidate the skills they needs to get a job and prosper.

Success Stories and Testimonials

We have reviewed Careerist’s proven strategies for job placement. In this section, we’ll introduce you to individuals who, like you, once stood at the crossroads of uncertainty.

From Private Investigator, Real Estate Agent to Manual QA.

Brook Hassel is a Manual QA training graduate who switched careers, and is now taking his first steps into the tech sphere by working full-time as a tester.

When asked what skills he learned at Careerist that are important in his current job, he replied:

I think the highlights are knowledge of Jira and TestRail. The fact that I was already exposed to them saved me a lot of time and effort. I would have been completely lost if I didn’t have the opportunity to write the test cases or even understand the way they should be written. I was used to writing the test cases myself and going back through them step by step to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. Otherwise, I probably would have been doubting myself a lot because it’s just a lot of vague information I would not know what to do with.

Brook Hassel Careerist.

Brook is one of the many former Careerist students who, compared Careerist to other boot camps, and found they didn’t have the same features.

One of the main features was a guaranteed tuition refund if he didn’t get employed within a year.

He also didn’t know what QA was when he looked into the Quality Assurance Engineering training.

He still didn’t fully know what it was before he purchased the program

Andrea’s Journey to becoming a Sales Engineer.

After dropping out of a computer science degree because, she felt the professor wasn’t actually teaching her class, instead they were being taught to code by students who were two or three levels above them. (😯 I know, I thought the same thing).

After a stint working in Banking and as a Spanish linguist, she decided to give tech another go via Careerist because she believed the tutors had the experience she needed to become competent.

As she said:

They did a great job sharing their years of experience in every single class, and they were pretty honest about what works and what doesn’t. That’s what I was looking for: someone who was seasoned in what they were teaching.

Bruce, with no Tech Experience or degree now earns $100,000 per/yr. as a QA Professional.

In his words:

Changing careers is a big step, and it can be challenging, especially if you don’t have any previous experience in the field. But if you’re passionate about it, and you’re willing to put in the effort, it’s absolutely possible. Training like Careerist can help you gain the skills and knowledge you need to succeed. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or advice from coaches, and keep practicing and learning.

Measuring Careerist’s Impact

Statistics and Data.

Max Glubochansky, a cofounder of Careerist was working in QA at Apple when a friend of his visited one day with the idea of creating a start up.

The idea was born many years after they had helped friends and acquaintances break into the IT field, and find jobs in top companies like Apple, Intel, Google, and Facebook (now Meta).

Their plan was a challenging balancing act.

They wanted their students to get real work experience during their studies, and one of the big challenges for them was to create an immersive internship that passes along the experience of working on real projects.

At the same time, they were aware of the need to not overwhelm their students with it, as most of them have no experience working in tech.

The company was founded in 2019, and after an $8 million seed raising it now has about 300 people working across 37 different countries.

These include a professional sales team, a strong mentorship system, A career Advisory, a Job Application Service, and (importantly), a couple of payment methods to help people reach their goals.

In 2021 Careerist had 3,500 Manual QA students go through its course. Not all completed the course successfully, but those that did are now spread around 1000 tech companies across 40 states of the USA.

Heading into 2024

While price plays a big factor in deciding on a course, other factors should not be overlooked in your decision-making process

These include:

  • The quality of instruction.
  • Curriculum
  • Industry reputation
  • Student support.

When doing research for this article I found Careerist had an average ⭐ rating of 4:7 across three major rating companies, one being trust pilot.

Course Report is another and is probably a harder marker than Trust Pilot or Sitejabber as it is more focused on education. The other two cover multiple industries.

There were 295 reviews on Course Report with an average ⭐rating of 4:6. So Careerists rating is consistent with those at Trust Pilot and Sitejabber.
